This project explore the continuity produced by loop circulation. While one facet that drives the project is loop circulation, Contrast is the second most basic means of delivering meaning through form. Simple contrast like black and white, outdoor and indoor, big and small, horizontal and Vertical highly increases range of expression. Loop circulation and simple contrast, combined, can shape a Prototype Architectural concept.
The articulation of the circulation system with the constructive system through simple contrast produces two Distinct spatial qualities:
1. The continuity between exterior and interior (outdoor and indoor) spaces.
2. The continuity between different levels.
With those two things in mind, the next move was looking at specific sports/activities that would maximize the conceptual meaning of the building. I figure high diving and indoor sky diving Would give the individual the most extreme and sensational experience as they travel through the Buildings vertical orientation and overlook downtown.
The precedent for this project was Yokohama Port Terminal by FOA Architects.
